Joe Whyte has an amazing talent for turning the intangible world of music into rich illustrations loaded with symbolism.

The illustration below was ceated for the band Behind Crismson Eyes and is the feature image on their new album.

What we love about Joe's work in the music industry is that the layout and concept is often left to Joe. It's when we really get to appreciate his influences and the brain behind the wrist. Our first impression of the concept was an appreciation of his use of reflection and symmetry, both techniques that rose to popoularity during the Art Noveau movements. Then we saw the final piece and marvelled at how Joe had pushed these visual techniques to deliver his unique concept. The way he used symmetry and reflection to draw attention to the contrasting tone of good an evil, but still managed to keep the balance of the overall design. Doves of peace juxtaposed against steel birds of war in the sky, or a grenade in hand for example.
